BOILER & CENTRAL HEATING INSTALLATION

How much it costs to install a heating system is based on a number of factors including: boiler types, fuel, and the size of the central heating system. At Temper Heating we can guide you towards the right option for you.

Did you know that old, inefficient boilers use up much more energy than new A-rated boilers? The savings you make each year will soon add up to cover the initial cost of a new boiler. By replacing an under-performing boiler and installing one that is more energy efficient, you could in fact save up to £475 each year on your heating bills.

It is important to note that not all properties are the same and the cost of installing a central heating system depends on several factors:

The size of the property
The age of a property
The accessibility to connect to Natural Gas, or other fuels such as LPG or Oil
Environmental issues

The total cost of a new central heating system also depends on what is needed for the installation such as:

A complete system may require a new boiler, radiators, and potentially some re-plumbing. item
A specialised system and installation to accompany a property’s specifications.
The cost of labour for a complete or partial installation

HEATING UPGRADES & SMART CONTROLS

What are smart thermostats?

Smart thermostats are a new and clever way to control your heating system by connecting remotely to your internet and installing a simple application on to your smartphone. At their most basic level, smart thermostats will let you set up a schedule for when your heating comes on and turns off, and the temperature.

The clever feature of all smart thermostats is adjusting your heating temperatures with your phone, whether you’re out and about, lounging on the couch or just laying in bed.

Other features vary by thermostat and manufacturer, but most common ones include multi-room temperature control, hot water control, draught detection, safety and holiday modes. These are the perfect upgrade for any system, contact us today to discuss which option may suit you best.

MAGNACLEAN

What is a MagnaClean?
A MagnaClean is a magnetic filter that is designed to fit onto almost any boiler’s pipework, clearing out debris and sludge before it can build up and block the system or leak into the water supply. Like any filter, MagnaClean stops you from having to flush the systems constantly. This protection lasts throughout the lifetime of the boiler and helps to reduce central heating bills by up to 6%.

Where should a MagnaClean be fitted?
A MagnaClean should be fitted on the return pipe to the boiler, just before it re-enters the boiler. This location ensures that it captures as much debris as possible before the water re-enters the boiler. This will protect the boiler’s internal components from damage and ‘wear and tear’.

Cleaner waterist
Better efficiency
Less maintenance
Fewer Breakdowns
Lower energy bills

AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

At Temper Heating we are committed to helping others reduce their carbon footprints by using alternate options to gas and oil.

We are skilled professionals that install heating systems that run off of renewable energy sources. Our years of experience handling air source heat pump installations and allows us to perform onsite surveys to determine where the installation will be best situated, and also gives us the knowledge to answer any questions you might have. We offer to complete a survey at a time that suits you and will talk you through all your options around installing an air source heat pump for your home.

By installing an air source heat pump (ASHP) it will provide you with hot water and heating for your home through absorbing the warmth from the outside air to heat a building. These are high tech and reliable alternatives to using gas an oil energy sources. It may surprise you to learn that it is even possible for air source heat pumps to extract useful heat from air temperatures as low as -15 degrees and still be efficient. ASHPs come in a range of sizes to suit small, medium, or large homes.

If you wish to discuss more about an air source heat pump installation for your home, then you give us a call!

LANDLORD GAS CERTIFICATES

The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 (GSIUR) outline your duties as a landlord to make sure all gas appliances, fittings, chimneys and flues are safe and working efficiently.

As a landlord, you are responsible for the gas safety of your tenants. You must ensure that all gas appliances are working correctly and safely. Therefore, every rental property that has any sort of gas appliance, whether it be a gas boiler, hob, oven or fire, requires a Gas Safety Certificate. These certificates can only be issued by a technician registered with the Gas Safe Register. At Temper Heating all our engineers are Gas Safe registered.

A Gas Safety Certificate is valid for a year from the date it is issued.

SHOULD ALL OF MY GAS APPLIANCES BE TESTED?

Yes! By Law, all Gas Appliances in a property have to be tested in an inspection, owned by the landlord. You cannot pick and choose which appliances to test, even if you had a new appliance installed within a year.

A gas safety engineer can only certify a gas certificate or deem a property gas safe, if all the appliances in the property have been tested on the day.

Temper heating are great, very professional and accommodating. I would recommend them highly and very pleased with the service I received.

POWER FLUSH

At Temper Heating we have a wealth of experience with central heating systems, whether it be a new modern system or a 30-year-old system, we will ensure that it is functioning as efficiently as possible.
A Power flush will protect and improve your central heating meaning that you will use less energy and save money. It is the most effective way to remove blockages in your central heating system, allowing water to flow through it freely.

How does it work?
Removing the dirty water

We flush the hot water boiler circuit then start removing all the dirty water and replacing it with clean water. A power flush takes around a day (i.e. 6-8 hrs for 12 radiators), and how long it takes is dependent on the severity of the build-up.

How do you know if I need a power flush?
While it’s not always possible to see the problems caused by blockages, you can tell when your system is heavily contaminated by looking out for the following signs:

Brown or black water when radiators are bled (or no water coming out at all)
Cold strips at the bottom of your radiators
Noisy radiators and/or boiler
Leaking radiators and / or pipework
Your boiler is frequently breaking down / needs to be restarted
Cold radiators but hot pipes
Radiators struggling to heat up and / or some are taking longer to heat up than others

Is Power Flush always the solution?

In some severe cases, it may actually be more cost-effective to replace the system than to carry out a Power flush. A Power flush will not fix broken parts.
If a blockage has caused a part to break that will add time and cost to the job to get the system back to optimum performance. Our engineers will be able to advise you if this is the case.

BEFORE: Cold spots in your radiator are caused by dirty water and sludge which prevents the heat to flow effectively.

DURING: The power flush consists of a chemical clean out of your boiler, pipes and radiators replacing the dirty sludge with clean water.

AFTER: With the dirty sludge water replaced with clean water your radiators and boiler will work much better and more efficiently.
